FIRST RECONCILIATION (FIRST CONFESSIONS) FOR CHILDREN

First of all!
The child is 7 years and 9 months old, or older.
The child has been baptized.
One parent is Catholic.
Both parents are agreeable to the child proceeding with this sacrament.
If you live in one of the adjoining parishes, please obtain permission from the parish priest before you enroll in the Stella Maris parish programme.

How children are prepared!
A parent attends an INFORMATION and ENROLMENT night. (Dates for '09 listed below)
Children do not attend this meeting.
It is held at the Stella Maris church, Baden Powell Street, Maroochydore.
At the ENROLMENT NIGHT parents and children are put into home groups that meet on 4 occasions in one of the family homes.
After that, the group of parents, children and friends come to the church of their choice at a pre-arranged time to celebrate the sacrament with one of the parish priests.

Important dates for celebrating the Sacrament of Reconciliation 2009

These are the dates of the ENROLMENT AND INFORMATION MEETINGS
Monday 9th February 2009 at 7pm, Monday 18th May 2009 at 7pm, Monday 3rd August 2009 at 7pm   

Choose the date that suits you. Come to the Stella Maris church at 7pm. Children do not attend this function.
Children celebrate the sacrament approximately 5 weeks later.
