FIRST HOLY COMMUNION and CONFIRMATION
First of all!
The
child has already completed the Sacrament of First Reconciliation.
One parent is a Catholic and both parents are agreeable
to the celebration.
A baptism certificate for the child is available.
Next!
The
parish prepares 3 times a year. Families decide which programme.
A parent attends an INFORMATION EVENING at Stella Maris
church.
Children do not attend this information evening.
Families are divided into groups of 4 or 5 adults and
children.
There are 5 meetings in a home of one of the families in
the group.
A Group Leader is chosen.
Then!
The sacrament of Confirmation PRECEDES First Holy Communion.
(It usually takes place on the Friday evening at
Stella Maris church).
First Holy Communion is given that same week end.
The family chooses among the various parish week end Masses.
If!
In
some dioceses of Australia Confirmation is delayed until around Grade 7.
If you have recently arrived here, and are not sure why
things appear to be different, we will explain the 'whys' and 'whens' at the
INFORMATION EVENING.
If you intend to take part in a programme listed below please phone the Parish Office so that we know in advance you will be attending. (07) 5443 3488.
